Public Spaces Conference: Towards a less broken Internet

It is hard to argue that the current day Internet isn't the best it can be. However bad it is, we can fix it and make it a healthy digital space. That is the objective of the Public Data Spaces Conference: to foster cooperation between organisations and developers to tackle the task of making the Internet a better, safer and more collaborative place.

Building Connections” is one of the sessions at the conference that will explore these important themes. Given so many initiatives exist that form a part of what we need, such as Redecentralize network, MyData Global, Mozilla, CC, how do we best connect?

How do we create a ‘network of networks’ where people are able to find their complement and find what they need?

How do we evaluate what is relevant and what isn’t?

What are the best ways of working together and building on each other’s work?

A panel moderated by Sander van der Waal(Waag) will provide the opportunity to discuss and address these important questions and will include the following:

Katryna Dow is also a member of the MyData Global Board, and active member of the community since its formation. Meeco is also a founding member of Data Sovereignty Now, as is MyData.

As a result, Katryna brings a unique cross community perspective on how common goals and shared values bring people and organisations together.

MyData Global is an award-winning international non-profit. The purpose of MyData Global is toempower individuals by improving their right to self-determination regarding their personal data. It is based on the MyData Declaration.

MyData Global has over 100 organisation members and close to 400 individual members from over 40 countries, on six continents, facilitating the 2000+ strong MyData Global community working on the ethical use of personal data. MyData is both an alternate vision and guiding set of technical principles.

Data Sovereignty Now is a relatively new initiative. It was formed in late 2020 through a coalition of leading Europe-based technology companies, research institutions and not-for-profit organisations. The goal in joining forces is to enable a more equitable digital economy. Both Meeco and MyData Global are founding members, demonstrating the power of aligned collaboration.
